Two institutions, one unrivaled graduate experience.
The MIT-Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program in Oceanography/Applied Ocean Science and Engineering offers a five-year doctoral degree.
Combining the strengths of a top research university (MIT) with one of the top oceanographic research institutions (WHOI), the program encompasses one of the largest enterprises devoted to oceanographic study in the world. Joint Program students have unparalleled access to scientists, classes, programs, and resources at both institutions. In addition, WHOI supports a world-class research fleet, providing students with ample opportunities to conduct their work at sea.
